Product Description

Soil Preservation Solution (Lytic) is an aqueous sample storage reagent designed to stabilize and preserve both DNA and RNA in soil samples for extended periods at room temperature. The solution has been tested for compatibility with various soil types, ranging from high biomass to low biomass. Soil Preservation Solution (Lytic) provides a simple option for field collection and storage when refrigerated storage is not available.

 When a soil sample is stored in Soil Preservation Solution (Lytic), the reagent creates a protective environment that safeguards DNA and RNA from rapid degradation by immediately inactivating nuclease enzymatic activity. The preserved sample, together with the partially released nucleic acids, can then be used directly with the MP Biomedicals SPINeasy / MagBeads nucleic acid extraction kits. Sequencing data demonstrate that the original microbiome composition is well preserved across a wide range of soil types.
