DPBS is used to irrigate, wash, and dilute mammalian cells. Phosphate buffering maintains the pH in the physiological range. Calcium and magnesium facilitate cell binding and clumping. DPBS without these ions can be used to wash and rinse suspended cells.

Physical Appearance Powder
Solubility Dissolve one packet of powder in 1 L of distilled water. The pH will be in the range of 7.3 - 7.5. If desired, add sodium bicarbonate. The pH can be adjusted as desired using 1N HCl or 1N NaOH. Sterile filter, if desired. Store liquid at 2 - 8 °C.
Storage and Handling Store at +4°C.
