MP Magnetic Rack 8 is a novel tool designed for fast and easy extraction of nucleic acids using a magnetic method. It is commonly used in combination with MagBeads FastDNA Kits from MP Biomedicals.
The magnet supplied with the tube rack is small, easy to handle, and is made of the strongest magnetic material. It provides fast and efficient magnetic separation.
The design of the MP Magnetic Rack 8 allows easy removal of the rack from the magnet so that tubes can be placed on a shaker or a vortex during the extraction process without removing the tubes from the rack.
Up to 8 standard 1.5 mL to 2.0 mL microcentrifuge tubes with an outer diameter of less than 10.5 mm can be placed in the MP Magnetic Rack 8, and the magnetic design allows good visibility of the sample.
Storage
The magnet, composed of high-energy Neodymium permanent magnets, has to be stored in a dry and cool place and should never be used at a temperature above 50°C.
The tube rack is commonly stored at room temperature. It can be placed with the tubes at temperatures as low as -20°C for a limited time.
Cleaning
The MP Magnetic Rack 8 is cleaned with one of the following solutions:
- 70% (v/v) isopropyl alcohol
- 1% (v/v) sodium hypochlorite solution (bleach)
- 0.1 N HCL solution
It is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure of the MP Magnetic Rack 8 to water or aqueous solutions.
The MP Magnetic Rack 8 cannot be autoclaved.
