Product Description

Peptide thiobenzyl esters are very sensitive substrates for serine and cystein proteases. The thiol leaving group is detected by reaction with a thiol reagent such as 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB or Leman's reagent) or 4,4'-dithiodipyridine. The rate of thiobenzyl ester hydrolysis is then measured at 324 nm by monitoring the formation of 4-thiopyridone (E324nm = 19,800 M-1cm-1) or at 405 nm using DTNB as a thiol reagent (E405nm = 13,260 M-1cm-1) for 2-nitro-5-thiobenzoate anion TNBS. A chromogenic substrate for Plasmogen Activator Serine Protease
