SPINeasy^® RNA Kit for Urine

SPINeasy RNA Kit for Urine offers a rapid method for the isolation and purification of total RNA from 5–15 mL of urine. This purification protocol requires no sophisticated equipment and involves minimal handling. Purification is based on spin column chromatography utilizing MP’s RNA MATRIX as the separation matrix. RNA MATRIX is a proprietary silica-based binding matrix offering flexibility in RNA binding capacities and selectively binds RNA for purification. The RNA is preferentially purified from other cellular components such as proteins, without the use of phenol or chloroform. The resulting RNA is of high integrity and suitable for various downstream applications, including real-time PCR, reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR), and sequencing.

Figure 2: Comparison of reverse transcription qPCR (RT-qPCR) results for RNA extracted from urine using the SPINeasy RNA Kit for Urine and competitor kits. RNA was extracted from 12 urine samples using the SPINeasy RNA Kit and from 3 urine samples each using competitor kits Z (2a), N (2b), S (2c), and M (2d). For each RT-qPCR reaction, 2 μL of RNA template was used. Primers targeting 16S rRNA (bacterial RNA) and GAPDH (human RNA) were employed. Amplification was performed using SYBR Green technology.
