From Proteus vulgaris
This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolytic desulfation of unsaturated 4,5-disaccharide 6-sulfates yielding inorganic sulfate and a non-sulfated disaccharide. It is activated by acetate ion.
Activity: 4Sase < 5 x 10^-3, 6Sase < 1.2 x 10^-5 units/ampule.
This enzyme exhibits high selectivity for saturated and unsaturated disaccharide 6-sulfates.
Unit Definition: One unit of enzyme liberates 1 μmole of inorganic sulfate per minute at 37°C, pH 7.5.
