An acid-base indicator developed from various orcinol-containing lichen including Lecanora tartarea, Rocella fuciformis and Variolaria dealbata. The principal coloring matter in Litmus is Azolitmus, a substituted 7-hydroxy-2-phenoxazone derivative.
