Anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) mouse monoclonal antibody
Product is a mouse monoclonal antibody, isotype IgG1, that reacts with Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein.
Application Notes
Mouse Anti - Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein is used in immunohistochemistry. It is designed for the specific and qualitative localization of GFAP in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. This antibody stains glial cells (Bergmann glia) and astrocytes. It has been tested for immunohistochemistry in human, pig, and rat. It is also suitable for microarray.

Preparation Method | The liquid antibody (from ascites) is in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.6, with 1% BSA and 0.09% sodium azide as a preservative. The original immunogen was produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and mouse spleen cells immunized with purified porcine GFAP. By use of well defined GFAP fragments, the antibody was shown to react with the carboxyterminal Cys II fragment. It appears to be broadly cross-reactive among species. Immunoblots on extracts of the glioma cell line U333 CG/U343MG specifically visualize a single 51 kDa band. The antibody was prepared using GFAP isolated from porcine spinal cord as the immunogen. |
Solubility | Soluble in water |
Species Reactivity | Human, Pig, Rat |
Specificity | The antibody reacts specifically with GFAP in immunoblotting assays and labels astrocytes; Bergmann glia cells and chondrocytes of elastic cartilage in immunohistochemical staining. The antibody reacts with glial specific antigen in frozen or alcohol-fixed tissue sections. |
Typical Working Concentration | Immunohistochemical use: 1:50 to 1:100. |
