An aminoglycoside antibiotic effective against gram-negative bacteria. Like neomycin, it inhibits protein synthesis by binding to 16s-ribosomal RNA. Useful in studies of cytosine-cytosine (CC) mismatch containing RNAs.
Paromomycin sulfate salt has been used as a• reference compound in antileishmanial activity• RNA-binding ligand and interacts with aptamer. This interaction prevents the binding (and cutting) of dicer to RNA duplex

|Base Catalog Number||194535|
|Beilstein Registry Number||5715182|
|Biochemical Physiological Actions||Paromomycin inhibits the initiation and elongation steps of protein synthesis by binding to 16S ribosomal RNA. Paramomycin binds to the A site, which causes defective polypeptide chains to be produced and leads to cell death.|
|Grade||Cell Culture Grade|
|Typical Working Concentration||Paromomycin sulfate is recommended for use in cell culture applications at 100 mg/L.|
