Product Description

MP EcoChrom™ Alumina A - Super I shows absorbtion capacity approximately twice as high as that of MP EcoChrom™ Alumina A, Activity I. Their inital activity is kept in a very narrow range and their deactivation behavior is extremely constant. MP EcoChrom Alumina A - Super I are commonly used for purification processes of all kinds including sample preparation for pesticides environmental analysis, solvent purification and all kinds of chromatography requiring the highest precision and reproducibility.

Application Notes

MP EcoChrom Alumina A acts as a catalysis is variety of reactions for Industrial uses. It is used to remove water from gas streams, as an abrasive and as a much less expensive substitute for industrial diamond. Many types of sandpaper use aluminum oxide crystals. In chemistry labs, alumina is a medium for chromatography, available in basic (pH 9.5), acidic (pH 4.5 when in water) and neutral formulations, in addition to alcohols, hydrocarbons, steroids, alkaloids and natural pigments. Neutral alumina, (less active than the basic form) is useful for separation of aldehydes, ketones, quinones, esters, lactones and glucosides. Acidic alumina is the weakest and used least often. Alumina is useful for separation of acid pigments and strong acids. It can cause polymerization, condensation and dehydration reactions. Neither acetone nor ethyl acetate should be used as eluants since it is subject to saponification. It is also used for dosimeter radiation protection and therapy applications for its optically stimulated luminescence properties.
