Application Notes

Goat serum is a suitable replacement for FBS on most cell lines and primary cultures for Biomedical Research - virus isolation and identification, virologic studies, etc. It is used as an effective NBCS replacement for the culture of fish cells and could be successfully used in place of fetal bovine serum in the growth medium for long-term in vitro propagation of T. annulata schizonts. Goat serum may be used as a blocking agent or negative control in immunoassays. For immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry, goat serum was used between 1%-20% as a blocking agent in various studies.
