Biochemical Physiological Actions Pyruvate Oxidase reacts with certain aldehydes and phosphate can be replaced by arsenate. Oxygen as well as several artificial compounds can function as electron acceptors. Pyruvate Oxidase is activated by phospholipids as well as monomeric and micellar amphiphiles.
