Application Notes

1,2-bis-(O-Aminophenoxy)ethane-N, N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid, cell impermeant is a useful chelating agent for calcium in cell biological studies; more selective for Ca2+ than EDTA and EGTA, and their metal binding is also much less pH sensitive. Highly selective for Ca2+ over Mg2+ and can be used to control the level of both intracellular and extracellular Ca2+. BAPTA binds and releases Ca2+ ions about 50-400 times faster than EGTA.
